Pamela Adlumia Jafari,
the
new Production Manager
Serenity Players, Inc. is excited to announce the return of Pamela Adlumia Jafari, as the new Production Manager. A dear friend to the company, she began her theatre exploration with the DC Recreation Department summer theatre program back in the early 60's. At the age of seven, she received her first acting role, playing a mouse "Ruff", from the cartoon duo, "Ruff and Ready".
Since then, she has worked in all areas of the theatre, including stage-management, sound technician, light board operator and actress. She was also a box office manager with Arena Stage as well as an improv actress with DC Playback Theatre. In addition, she worked several years with the International Association of Jazz Educators Annual Conference, as well as the Pioneer Awards (Rhythm & Blues Foundation), the Annapolis Jazz Festival, Barbeque Battle, the Washington Millennium Celebration, A Tribute to Marion Barry, and 3 National Girl Scout Jamborees on the National Mall. She also worked five years with Sasha Bruce Youthwork's "It Won't Happen To Me" AIDs production. In her travels to Africa , she worked as an Assistant Stage Manager and Associate Producer of events and programs for the National Theatre of Ghana.
Pamela Jafari made her directorial debut with Serenity Player's in the production of The Curious Savage. Ms. Jafari's past directing credits include several dozen children's plays, as well as, the production of Nana's Heart with Color Me Human Players. She has worked in all other areas of the theatre, including stage-managing A Candle on the Table, The Spirit of Principles, Meditations of the Heart, and Damien Isn't With Us (all with Serenity Players). She has served as assistant stage manager (ASM) for Amen Corner, Blood Knot, and Wedding Dance, Hubert and Charlie with ACTco. Her technical experience includes Sound operator for Amen Corner, and From the Mississippi Delta (ACTco), as well as, Harriet, and Pardon Me if I Cry (Serenity Player's). As a light board operator for A Candle on the Table, Lepers (Serenity Players) and Open Your Eyes (Shakespeare Company) and Gospel in Colonus (Theatre Alliance).
Being an active community member, Ms. Jafari taught various forms of theatre concepts at John Eaton Elementary School , Bethesda/Chevy Chase High School, Mark Twain High School, and Bethesda Youth Services Teen Center. Ms. Jafari was the Membership Director for the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington for three years. Currently, she is a principle partner with Undaunted Productions.
