Our Mission
To entertain, educate, and enlighten by bringing professional quality theatre to the underserved community East of the River.

Vision Statement
To serve as a community anchor for the arts, with a stable resource base, in Ward 7 by fulfilling a cultural enrichment need with routine standing room only performances; by providing a venue for artistic opportunities and development; and by demonstrating successful artistic partnerships with the community and other arts organizations.

Our History
Created in Washington, DC by Founder and Company Director Doris A.M. Thomas in 1983 with actors and performers of all ages, Serenity Players, Inc. has educated, enlightened and entertained audiences throughout the Metropolitan Washington, DC area. This professional company maintains its place of business in the Hillcrest and Ward 7 community east of the river. Throughout its history, the company has reached thousands of people of all ages. The company is a member of the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington; CulturalTourismDC, DC Advocates for the Arts and the American Association of Community Theatre.

Serenity Players, Inc. receives local support and funding from individual donors, Cafritz, Jovid, Meyer Foundations, The Herbert J. & Dianne J. Learner, The Samuel M. Levy Family Foundations, Humanities Council of Washington, DC, The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities. Serenity Players is featured in the 2006/07 Catalogue of Philanthropy: Greater Washington.

Serenity Players, Inc. has received numerous awards for its productions including Best Actress, Outstanding Production, Outstanding Costumes and Participation from the Eastern States Theater Festival Region II of the American Association of Community Theatre.
